Giresun University has achieved another significant success in the field of scientific research. The project, which was conducted by Dr. Lecturer Hasan Hüseyin Gül, a faculty member of the Statistics Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of our University, and was advised by Prof. Dr. Eren Baş, Advisor to the Rector and faculty member of the Statistics Department, has been awarded support by TÜBİTAK within the scope of the 1002 - Fast Support Program.
Project Title:
Estimation and Comparison of Unknown Parameters of Generalized Rayleigh and Power Rayleigh Distributions with Artificial Intelligence and Classical Optimization Methods: Giresun Wind Speed Data
The project aims to contribute to the efficient use of renewable energy resources by being conducted on the wind speed data of Giresun province. In particular, it is aimed to prevent technical problems encountered by ensuring that wind power plants are installed in the most suitable locations thanks to more accurate modeling of wind speed.
Within the scope of the project, the performance of artificial intelligence-based optimization algorithms for the estimation of unknown parameters of Generalized Rayleigh and Power Rayleigh distributions will be compared with classical optimization methods. In this process, the balance between the flexibility of artificial intelligence algorithms and the reliability of benchmark methods will be examined in detail.
In addition, a new hybrid optimization algorithm that combines the two approaches is proposed, aiming to develop a more effective solution that combines the advantages of both artificial intelligence and classical methods.
This project, which is deemed worthy of support, aims to produce important outputs that will not only contribute to academic literature but also guide regional energy policies.
